Holding various management positions, he served as Executive Vice President of TEMIC microelectronic GmbH, Heilbronn, a former affiliate of Daimler AG and as member of the supervisory boards of UMS United Monolithic Semiconductors SAS, Orsay, France and LDT Laser Display Technologies GmbH, Gera. He participated in both company creation and strategic growth of portfolio companies. He has been an influential contributor to many alliances, M&A transactions and divestments. He currently works as a partner in the law firm WWS Rechtsanwälte in Ulm, focusing on business law, and heads the supervisory boards of net.casion AG, Munich and Binder Group AG, Ulm.
studied biology at the university of Würzburg and received his PhD in molecular biology. After his postdoc at the Whitehead Institute for biomedical research in Cambridge, USA, he joined the Basel institute for immunology before he took a position at the center for molecular biology in Heidelberg. He was apointed professor for molecular genetics at the university in Würzburg before he finally moved to Ulm to accept the position of director of the institute for physiological chemistry at the medical faculty in 1999. He has 25 years of experience in various fields of molecular biology, most notably molecular immunology as well as generation and analysis of genetic mouse models for human diseases. He is active in multiple boards at the university Ulm.
is holding the chair for Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy at the Technische Universität München (TUM) and is Director of the Institute of Structural Biology at the Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU). Following his studies of chemistry and a doctoral thesis at the University of Frankfurt, he spent several years as a postdoc at the Abbott Laboratories (Chicago, USA) in the group of Steve Fesik. Thereafter he was Group Leader for Biomolecular NMR at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg. At present he is Director of the Bavarian NMR Centre, which is jointly supported by Technische Universität München and Helmholtz Zentrum München. This NMR center is an internationally recognized research infrastructure with state-of-the-art instrumentation and outstanding expertise and international reputation in application and development of NMR spectroscopy in biology and biomedicine. These technologies are applied to study the structure and dynamics of proteins and protein complexes. Professor Sattler is one of the world’s leading experts in the field of NMR spectroscopy of biological macromolecules. He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications in prestigious scientific journals. He is member of the editorial board of the journals The Journal of Biological Chemistry and Journal of Structural Biology in addition to his activities as scientific advisor of various institutes in Europe. Professor Sattler is co-author of the journal Biomolecular NMR Assignments and member of RNA Society, ASBMB, GDCh and GBM.

He has 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, holding various senior management positions with leading international pharmaceuticals companies, with focus on business development, licensing, product portfolio management at global level.
He worked for Behringwerke (subsidiary of former Hoechst AG), Merckle GmbH and Merckle-Recordati GmbH.
In his function as Director Business Development and Member of the Executive Board at Merckle GmbH and later Merckle-Recordati GmbH, he was responsible for all licensing activities and product portfolio management. He was in charge for planning and set-up of Merckle`s biogenerics division and implement all structures and functions to establish the company. In addition, he was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian pharmaceutical company Ascentia Pharma Inc., Montreal.
He currently works as independent Business Consultant with focus on pharma business development and licensing.
After completion of his studies in chemistry at the University of Ulm (Germany) he joined the Technology Licensing Bureau (TLB) in Karlsruhe taking responsibility for the evaluation and commercialization of technologies in the field of medical devices, pharmacology and chemistry. In 2000 he founded Polyzenix GmbH together with Prof. Dr. Michael Grunze (University of Heidelberg) to develop and commercialize surface technologies in the field of medical devices. After he sold his shares in Polyzenix GmbH to CeloNova Biosciences Inc. he left his position as Managing Director to join the Management of AKELA Pharma Inc., an internationally operating publicly listed drug development company seated in Montreal, Canada, as Vice President. He is adding more then 18 years of professional experience in the field of product development, licensing and business creation to ACROVIS biostructures.
