Job Duties & Responsibilities:
ACROVIS is seeking a highly motivated and innovative individual to join our Protein Structure Unit, which is responsible for providing highly purified recombinant proteins to support the small molecule drug discovery process and x-ray crystallography. Responsibilities include the development of purification schemes for recombinant proteins expressed in various expression systems using different chromatographic techniques. The applicant will also be involved in the functional characterizations of proteins using SDS-PAGE, western blotting, UV-Vis spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry and other biophysical techniques such as CD spectroscopy and isothemal titration calorimetry. Excellent communication skills are very important, since the applicant will collaborate closely with other scientists in integrated and interdisciplinary drug discovery projects.
Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field, with 0-3 years postdoctoral/industry experience Demonstrated success with the isolation and characterization (e.g. electrophoresis, mass spectrometry) of proteins from both eukaryotic and prokaryotic sources using state-of-the-art purification and analysis methods.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a matrix environment within timelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional experience in macromolecular crystallography and protein-protein interaction analyses and/or UV/VIS- and fluorescence spectroscopy would be an advantage.
